Care Center
The Care Center is a ministry of Willow Creek South Barrington. We are committed to offering services that help meet immediate needs, such as food and clothing, as well as services that help build toward a more sustainable future for individuals and families in the Chicagoland area. Our incredible volunteers partner with Care Center guests through a variety of on-site programs and services. We would love to help you get connected to a volunteer role that fits your gifts and interests.
Provide organizational and administrative support for general Care Center support, Legal Aid, Dental & Vision Clinic, C.A.R.S. shop, and volunteer onboarding & compliance. Flexible hours, in-person and remote opportunities available.

Meet one-on-one with guests to qualify them for services, provide other referrals, and offer a listening ear and prayer for those who are feeling stuck or overwhelmed by their circumstances. Daytime, evening, and weekend shifts available.

Do you love working on cars and tinkering in a shop? Join one of the C.A.R.S. ministry’s volunteer teams to perform light-duty mechanical work and repairs on vehicles or help tow donated vehicles back to the shop. No formal certification required. Must be 16 or older. Daytime, evening, and weekend shifts available.

Welcome and interact with guests as they shop, assist them with their purchase at the register, or work behind the scenes sorting donations, doing laundry, and preparing items for the store. Daytime, evening, and weekend shifts available.

Make grocery deliveries to guests who do not feel safe leaving home or help pack grocery orders on-site in preparation for deliveries. Delivery drivers must use their own vehicles. Daytime and weekend shifts available.

Use your licensed dental or optometry skills to provide quality care at our on-site clinic. Available roles include dentists, dental assistants, dental hygienists, optometrists, ophthalmologists, ophthalmic technicians, and administrative assistants. Put your HR or career coaching experience to use by meeting one-on-one with job seekers to review resumes, share interview tips, and provide guidance for their job search. Volunteers serve on Thursday mornings or evenings (in-person and virtually).

Pick up pre-arranged food donations at various grocers and other partner locations that are used to help stock the food store for guests. Some lifting up to 25 lbs. Daytime shifts available.

Help provide visitors with nutritious food and a positive shopping experience, or work behind the scenes bagging and loading groceries. Daytime, evening, and weekend shifts available.

Greet guests, help them get checked in, answer questions, and create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for our guests through gestures of unreasonable hospitality. Daytime, evening, and weekend shifts available.

Help create a fun and safe environment where the youngest Care Center guests can enjoy being a kid through play, art, and imagination. Daytime, evening, and weekend shifts available.

Help provide legal counsel and referrals to Care Center guests who are facing a range of legal issues and do not have access to legal services. There are available serving roles for Attorneys, Paralegals, and Legal Administrative Assistants. Legal experience is required. Volunteers serve on Tuesday mornings and evenings.

Plant and maintain the Care Center garden, which helps provide beautiful produce for our full-choice food pantry. Daytime shifts available: this is a seasonal role.

Support the Care Center by helping plan, set up, and assist with special events that create welcoming and memorable experiences for our guests. Volunteers may help with event preparation, hospitality, and day-of support as needed throughout the year. Daytime, evening, and weekend shifts available.

Are you a high school student looking for service hours? Students are invited to serve in the many different areas of the Care Center, including the food store or warehouse, clothing, C.A.R.S, or hospitality team.
