Care Center
The Care Center is a ministry of Willow Creek South Barrington. We are committed to offering services that help meet immediate needs, such as food and clothing, as well as services that help build toward a more sustainable future for individuals and families in the Chicagoland area. Our incredible volunteers partner with Care Center guests through a variety of on-site programs and services. We would love to help you get connected to a volunteer role that fits your gifts and interests. These roles are only available at the South Barrington Campus.
Be part of the team that responds to the voicemail messages that come in to the Care Center & C.A.R.S. ministry. FAQ/Template responses & training is provided. This role can be done remotely and days/hours are flexible.

Do you knit, crochet, quilt, or sew? Join the Blanket Ministry! This group gathers one Tuesday night and one Saturday each month to create blankets that are made available in our Care Center Clothing Store while also enjoying fellowship together.

Meet one-on-one with guests to qualify them for services and provide other referrals. Listening, Discernment, and Prayer are valuable gifts for this role.

Put your car repair knowledge to work by volunteering in our CARS ministry. Work with a volunteer team to repair cars at our on-site shop for our Care Center guests. It is light-duty mechanical work, closed-toed shoes are required. Craftsmanship and Helps are valuable gifts for this role. (Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu 6:30-9:00 pm, or Sat 9:00-12:00 am).

Use your data entry skills to enter invoices to our system Shop Boss. Transfer information from Shop Boss to Rock. Can be done remotely. Welcome and check guests in for vehicle inspections and repairs. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00am to 10:00am.

Serve the C.A.R.S. ministry by towing and transporting donated vehicles to and from the Care Center, to partner shops, or to auction. A Class C Driver’s License is required and training will be provided. Daytime, evening, and weekend shifts available.

Welcome and interact with guests as they shop, assist them with their purchase at the register, or work behind the scenes sorting donations, doing laundry, and preparing items for the store. . Daytime, evening, and weekend shifts available.

Use your licensed dental skills to provide quality care at our on-site Dental Clinic in the Care Center. Available roles include Dentists, Dental Assistants, Hygienists, and Administrative Assistants.

Assist the Care Center by picking up pre-arranged food donations at various grocers and other partner locations. Some lifting up to 25 lbs. Training is available.

Use your grant writing experience to identify and apply for grant opportunities to help build sustainable funding into the Care Center model.

Work behind the scenes to receive, sort, and stock shelves in the food store. Daytime and evening shifts available.

Help provide visitors with nutritious food and a positive shopping experience, or work behind the scenes bagging and loading groceries. Gifts of Helps and Hospitality are appreciated. (Am or pm on Tue, Wed, Thu, or Sat am).

Help create a warm, welcoming experience for Care Center guests through conversation, prayer, and getting them checked in for services. Hospitality and Encouragement are valuable gifts for this role. Daytime, evening, and weekend shifts available.

Help create a fun and safe environment where the youngest Care Center guests can enjoy being a kid through play, art, and imagination. Heart for Kids and Hospitality are valuable gifts for this role. Daytime, evening, and weekend shifts available.

Use your bilingual speaking skills to help provide a dignified and friendly Care Center experience for our non-English speaking guests. You’ll work with our Hospitality Team volunteers, as well as in various areas of the Care Center as needed, to provide interpretation assistance between our guests and English-speaking volunteers. Hospitality and Encouragement are valuable gifts for this role. Daytime, evening, and weekend shifts available.

Help provide legal counsel and referrals to Care Center guests who are facing a range of legal issues and do not have access to legal services. There are available serving roles for Attorneys, Paralegals, and Legal Administrative Assistants. Legal experience is needed. (Tue only).

Are you a High Schooler looking for service hours? We'd love to have you help out at the Care Center! We have evening and Saturday options available to fit your school schedule, and a number of volunteer opportunities for you to explore.Including food, clothing, translation, guest experience, and C.A.R.S.

Use your licensed optometry skills to provide quality care to our Care Center Vision Clinic guests. There are available serving roles for Optometrists, Ophthalmologists and Ophthalmic Technicians. Professional vision training and experience is needed.
